Claude WhatsApp integration

Claude supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which lets you plug in outside tools. RelayMCP is a hosted WhatsApp MCP server: add it to Claude as a remote MCP server and Claude can work with your recent WhatsApp chats, within the privacy limits you set.

Set it up

Link WhatsApp by scanning the QR code on your RelayMCP dashboard from Linked devices in WhatsApp. Old history isn't imported.
Block private chats and set message retention on the dashboard.
Copy your personal RelayMCP URL (for example https://mcp.relaymcp.app/u/you).
Add it in Claude as a custom connector / remote MCP server. Availability depends on your Claude plan and app; check Claude's current connector settings.
Ask Claude, for example "Keep the Family group private from now on" or "What's waiting on my reply?"

What Claude can do with it

Reminders and follow-ups based on what's actually in your chats.
Find what someone said, and summarise busy chats and groups.
Draft replies to your contacts; you approve before anything is sent.
Transcribe voice notes (Hindi and English) and read images and documents.
Block a chat on request. Only you can unblock it, with a code shown only on your dashboard.

The same URL also works with Cursor and your own agents, as long as they support remote MCP servers.

Privacy safeguards

Block any chat or group. Its messages are dropped the moment they arrive: never stored, never shown to your AI, media never downloaded. Blocking also wipes anything already stored for that chat.
Only you can unblock. Unblocking needs a code shown only on your own RelayMCP dashboard; your AI never sees it.
Short memory, not an archive. Messages are deleted automatically after 72 hours (adjustable), and old chat history isn't downloaded when you link.
Locked with your key (pilot feature). Stored messages and media are encrypted with a key only you hold, protected by a passphrase we never store. This protects stored data; it isn't WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption, and it doesn't cover metadata (who you message and when) or messages while the connected service is handling them. Details.
Encrypted at rest, stored in India (AWS Mumbai). Logs never contain message text.
Delete anytime. Unlink the device and all your data is wiped.

Anti-spam limits (always on)

RelayMCP is a reminder and follow-up tool, not a broadcast tool. On every plan: you approve sends; approved messages go out after a random 30–120 second delay; one person per message; no groups or broadcast lists; only your contacts or existing chats; no sends 9 PM–9 AM recipient-local; about 30 unique recipients a day; the same text to at most 3 people. Misuse gets the account paused or banned.

It links to your personal WhatsApp as a companion device through WhatsApp's Linked devices feature. It is an independent product, not affiliated with or endorsed by WhatsApp or Meta, and WhatsApp's terms on unofficial clients apply to your account.
Content your AI tool reads through RelayMCP is also processed by that tool's provider under its own terms.

Does Claude work with WhatsApp?
