A hosted WhatsApp MCP server for your own WhatsApp
Updated 12 October 2026
An MCP server (Model Context Protocol) gives AI tools a standard set of actions they can call. A WhatsApp MCP server lets an assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor read your recent WhatsApp messages, set reminders and draft replies. RelayMCP is a hosted WhatsApp MCP server for your own personal WhatsApp: you add one personal URL to your AI tool, with nothing to install or run yourself.
Hosted vs. self-hosted WhatsApp MCP servers
Open-source WhatsApp MCP servers exist on GitHub. They generally expect you to run a bridge on your own computer, keep it online, and manage the message database yourself. That's a good fit if you're a developer who wants full control. RelayMCP is for people who'd rather not run anything: it stays connected for you so reminders and follow-ups work even when your laptop is off, and the privacy and anti-spam limits are built in.
What your AI can do through it
- Reminders: "Remind me tomorrow at 10 to call Rahul back."
- Follow-ups: "If the supplier hasn't confirmed by Friday, draft a nudge."
- Find what someone said: "What time did Priya say the meeting was?"
- Summarise chats: decisions, questions for you, and anything waiting on your reply.
- Draft and send replies to your contacts, with your approval.
- Voice notes and media: voice notes transcribed (Hindi and English); images and documents read.
How it connects
- Scan a QR code under Linked devices in WhatsApp on your phone. RelayMCP joins as a companion device; old history isn't imported.
- Add your personal RelayMCP URL (for example
https://mcp.relaymcp.app/u/you) to your AI tool as a remote MCP server. It works with MCP clients that support remote MCP servers. - Block the chats you want kept private, choose how long messages are kept, and start asking.
Privacy safeguards
- Block any chat or group. Its messages are dropped the moment they arrive: never stored, never shown to your AI, media never downloaded. Blocking also wipes anything already stored for that chat.
- Only you can unblock. Unblocking needs a code shown only on your own RelayMCP dashboard; your AI never sees it.
- Short memory, not an archive. Messages are deleted automatically after 72 hours (adjustable), and old chat history isn't downloaded when you link.
- Locked with your key (pilot feature). Stored messages and media are encrypted with a key only you hold, protected by a passphrase we never store. This protects stored data; it isn't WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption, and it doesn't cover metadata (who you message and when) or messages while the connected service is handling them. Details.
- Encrypted at rest, stored in India (AWS Mumbai). Logs never contain message text.
- Delete anytime. Unlink the device and all your data is wiped.
Anti-spam limits (always on)
RelayMCP is a reminder and follow-up tool, not a broadcast tool. On every plan: you approve sends; approved messages go out after a random 30–120 second delay; one person per message; no groups or broadcast lists; only your contacts or existing chats; no sends 9 PM–9 AM recipient-local; about 30 unique recipients a day; the same text to at most 3 people. Misuse gets the account paused or banned.
Good to know
- RelayMCP is in a private pilot. It's free for pilot users; join the waitlist to get access.
- It links to your personal WhatsApp as a companion device through WhatsApp's Linked devices feature. It is an independent product, not affiliated with or endorsed by WhatsApp or Meta, and WhatsApp's terms on unofficial clients apply to your account.
- Content your AI tool reads through RelayMCP is also processed by that tool's provider under its own terms.
